Growing up, one of my grandparents had a bird feeder right outside a window by their kitchen island. I fondly remember sitting and watching the countless number of birds that would visit and asking my grandparents about the ones I didn't recognize. These fond memories are what sparked my creation of my Field Notes Series, which is expanding one piece at a time. The Eastern Bluebird was the first on my list to do as I had some inspiration right outside my backdoor. 

 

Sialias Sialis features illustrations of both the male and female Eastern Bluebird along with a few facts about them. I wanted the piece to feel like it would be an artistic birder's field note book and have a bit of vintage touch to it.
